The UNLV Wellness Zone and the Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and offer a variety of services to help students address mental health concerns to make the most out of the college experience.

 

UNLV Wellness Zone

 

The UNLV Wellness Zone environment is one of inclusion, energy, and relaxation. Our programming targets the eight dimensions of the Wellness Wheel.

 

Occupational — career, certifications, work ethic, school, training, interests, abilities

Spiritual — values, intuition, character, ethics, tradition, enthusiasm, spiritual fulfillment

Intellectual — time management, study skills, goal setting, memory, test preparation, imagination

Physical — recreation, nutrition, sleep, relaxation, energy level, fitness, preventative maintenance

Emotional — personality, stress management, self-efficacy, love, joy, hardiness

Environmental — community service, world and political awareness, natural resource management, recycling, food choices

Social — relationships, culture, organizations, family, friends, clubs, parties, communication

Financial — money management, basic needs, building good credit, establishing personal budgets, learning not to let money indicate your self-worth

Put your wellness first with our free wellness supplies, including safer sex and menstruation products. Decompress in our relaxation room with automated massage chairs. Learn more about your body's responses and functions with our biofeedback device, which will give you a real-time body analysis to help you improve your wellness and reduce stress. Address your physical and fitness needs with the UNLV Recreation services of fitness assessments, personal training, and body composition located in our office. 

 

You can request our services that include: targeted wellness programming, Certified Peer Education (CPE) training, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and classroom/RSO presentations.

Healthy Rebels - Play a key role in promoting health and wellness amongst UNLV students and the community. You will become a Nationally Certified Peer Educator through National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and work alongside Wellness Educators to make a significant difference on campus. As a Healthy Rebel, you will gain skills in leadership, program planning, facilitating, and public speaking while building your resume through hands-on experience.  

 

The UNLV Wellness Zone is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) building. Just swipe your Rebel card to enter the gym and go to the second floor. Our staff includes two full-time wellness educators and hourly student workers.

Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Your college years are an exciting and challenging time. Academic and environmental demands can be highly stressful. You may feel a variety of emotions, such as anxious, depressed, lonely, and many others. These feelings can sometimes interfere with academic performance, social relationships, and your physical health. CAPS can help you manage your feelings and learn coping skills so that you can make the most out of your college experience. Our clinicians are trained to help you work through problems commonly experienced by a diverse college student population. 

 

CAPS is staffed by a multidisciplinary team and provides various services including consultations, care management, individual therapy, relationship  therapy, group therapy, crisis services, Eating Disorder Treatment Team, medication services, substance abuse and addiction services, workshops, Togetherall , YOU@ UNLV, and UNLV community events. 

 

CAPS has 2 locations.  One is on the 3rd floor of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) building. Just enter the Student Wellness Center on the first floor and speak to our front desk to go up to the third floor. The other is in SSC-A.
